4th Annual National Burning Nights CRPS Conference

The Burning Nights CRPS Support 4th Annual National Burning Nights CRPS conference event is on Sunday 4 November 2018!

Due to the amazing successes of our last 3 Annual Burning Nights CRPS Support conference events in 2015, 2016 and 2017 our 4th annual national CRPS conference is being held this year on SUNDAY 4th NOVEMBER 2018 and is being held in the North East at the Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

However this year there is just one small difference, and that is this year’s 4th Annual National CRPS Conference is being kindly sponsored by Abbott. Abbott, formerly known as St. Jude Medical are the creators and manufacturer of the Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulator (DRG) for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and other neuropathic conditions.

4th ANNUAL CRPS CONFERENCE UPDATE

Due to the popularity of our annual CRPS conferences, we are now FULLY booked up! However we do have a reserves list open for anyone who wishes to be added if we get any cancellations. These cancellations can be up to 1 week – 4 weeks in advance of the conference on 4th November 2018.

FREE for CRPS patients and their families*

*For professionals we ask for a donation of £50 per person which will include lunch and refreshments

LUNCH & REFRESHMENTS:

Both lunch (sandwiches including vegetarian option, salad bar and fries) and refreshments are FREE (for CRPS patients and their families) for you during the day’s event. (For professionals the £50 charge will include lunch and refreshments)

THE HOTEL:

The Marriott Gosforth Park is deemed a disabled friendly hotel. The conferencing area has a separate entrance to the hotel which has a ramp to get into the conference facilities. The suite where the conference is being held can be accessed either via a set of stairs or the ramp.

PARKING:

There are 300 complimentary parking spaces available at the hotel

Dr Zbigniew Kirkor MD PhD – Regenerative Medicine for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Dr. Kirkor is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine and Clinical Lead for Pain Services at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. He treats a broad variety of painful conditions: back and neck mechanical pain, Whiplash-Associated Disorders, sciatica, neuropathic pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, post-injury pain, fibromyalgia and many other.

Dr. Kirkor qualified from Medical University in Gdansk, Poland in 1987. He completed his formal training in anaesthesia in1994 and he held several consultant posts in Poland. He obtained his PhD in medicine in 1996. He moved to the UK in 2005 and he joined Pain Clinic at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (National Spine Injury Centre). In September 2010 he moved to Telford, Shropshire.

Dr. Kirkor’s special interest is interventional pain medicine, interventional medicine in MSK conditions, spine pain, whiplash injury, Whiplash-Associated Disorders and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

Dr. Kirkor is a member of Spine Interventions Society (Membership Committee Member), North American Spine Society and Interventional Orthopaedic Foundation.

Dr. Kirkor is an expert witness and his area of expertise is anaesthesia and chronic pain. He acted as an expert in several cases involving Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and neuropathic pain. He is a member of Medico – Legal Society. He is also an APIL Expert (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers). He is a member of the Expert Witness Institute (MEWI). He won The Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine Consultant of the Year 2017 Award (The Lawyers Monthly Magazine).

In 2018 Dr. Kirkor set up the first Regenexx Clinic in the UK (second in Europe) upon completion of the extensive training in the USA. The clinic focuses on regenerative medicine (stem cells and platelet rich plasma) for musculoskeletal conditions.

CRPS CARERS & CRPS PATIENTS’ SPEAKERS

We’re looking for both CRPS carers and CRPS patients who would be interested in giving a short talk about their lives either living with CRPS or as someone who cares/loves for someone with CRPS. If you’d like to speak at our 4th Annual National Burning Nights CRPS Support Conference please get in touch with us and let us know.

We currently have 2 CRPS patients who will be speaking at this year’s 4th annual national CRPS conference, however we are still looking for carers and family members of CRPS patients as well.

Sophie Spooner – CRPS Patient – “My name is Sophie Spooner, I am 21 years old. I was diagnosed with CRPS in early 2016 and just recently been diagnosed with Improving CRPS. I contracted CRPS through a Fulkersons Osteotomy surgery in 2015 after an accident on exercise with the Royal Navy.”

The raffle will take place and drawn on the day of the conference and will only be available to those attending our CRPS support conference.
